At the 2026 San Francisco Decorator Showcase, it’s easy to be swept up in the narrative, the color, the mood, the imagination of it all. But look closer, and you’ll find that what makes a space truly resonate is something less obvious: the hand behind the work.
In Rachel Scheff’s Powder & Cloak Reverie, that hand belongs to Quintal’s Granite & Marble.
Founded in the mid-2000s and rooted in the Bay Area, Quintal’s has built its practice on a kind of fluency in stone, an understanding that goes beyond installation and into interpretation. Under the direction of Leandro Quintal, the team approaches each project as both a technical challenge and a creative collaboration, translating a designer’s vision into something tangible, enduring, and quietly exacting.
For the Showcase, their role was comprehensive. Construction, stone fabrication, and tile setting were all executed in-house, allowing for a level of continuity that’s often difficult to achieve in highly detailed spaces.

Custom Calacatta Viola Marble Fabrication
The custom Calacatta Viola marble vanity may be modest in scale, but its impact within the powder room is undeniable. Its integrated sink was carved seamlessly from the same expressive slab, creating a sense of continuity that feels both sculptural and refined. But it’s the subtleties that linger: a drain fashioned entirely from stone, an element so considered it feels almost incidental, yet entirely transformative.
Nearby, a sculptural side table designed by Rachel Scheff and fabricated by Quintal’s blurs the line between furniture and artifact, reinforcing the room’s sense of material poetry. Defined by a softly concave base and carved from a dramatic section of Viola marble with broad swashes of plum veining, the piece carries its own expressive character while remaining visually connected to the vanity and the larger material story of the space.
This is where Quintal’s distinguishes itself. Not in grand gestures, but in restraint, in the precision of a miter, the continuity of veining, the confidence to let the material speak without interruption.
Collaboration at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase
For Leandro and his team, participating in their first San Francisco Decorator Showcase carried special significance. “Being a part of this showcase felt both an honor and a milestone,” he says. “It gave our team the chance to push our creativity and present our work on a larger scale. More than anything, it reinforced why we love what we do.”
That spirit of collaboration became central to the project itself. “It was a rewarding experience and a meaningful learning process,” Leandro explains. When asked what defines a successful designer-fabricator relationship, his answer is refreshingly simple: “Clear and constant communication.”
Their process reflects that sensibility. Each slab is carefully evaluated for tone and movement before fabrication begins, ensuring that what is ultimately installed feels cohesive, intentional, and attuned to the designer’s vision. It’s a methodical approach, but never rigid, one that leaves room for nuance, for adjustment, for the kind of decision-making that only happens on site, in real time.
