Designer Spotlight: Fig St. Design
Peach Terrace: A Dialogue Between Past & Present
At Fig St. Design, interiors begin with intention. Each space is guided by an intuitive balance of pattern, texture, light, and function, resulting in homes that feel personal, layered, and quietly confident. Founded in 2017 by principal designer Naomi Dresser, the studio has built a reputation for creating environments that feel both thoughtfully composed and deeply livable.
With a background spanning interior design and marketing, Naomi brings a multidimensional lens to her work. She understands not only how spaces should look, but how they should perform, and how thoughtful design choices resonate over time. After earning a degree in Business Management from UC Santa Cruz, she returned to school to pursue Interior Design at The Art Institute of San Diego. A long-standing commitment to sustainability led her to become LEED AP certified in 2009, a designation that continues to inform the studio’s material-forward, responsible approach.
Before launching Fig St. Design, Naomi’s experience ranged from large-scale commercial and retail environments to residential kitchens and baths. Today, that breadth translates into a full-service interior design studio specializing in kitchens, baths, full-home renovations, additions, and new construction, always with a focus on spaces that reflect how clients truly live.
A Collaborative Studio
Naomi is supported by a close-knit team that blends technical expertise with creative enthusiasm. Designer Caitlin Carter brings deep knowledge of plumbing, tile, cabinetry, and appliances, along with a sharp eye for the details that elevate a project from good to exceptional. And then there is Toby, the studio’s resident pup, whose presence keeps the atmosphere warm and collaborative.
At its core, Fig St. Design is about listening. Translating lifestyle, priorities, and vision into spaces that feel intuitive, enduring, and distinctly personal. The Peach Terrace kitchen is a clear expression of that philosophy.
An Heirloom Look with a Modern Point of View
The Peach Terrace kitchen is a study in juxtaposition, where heirloom character and modern sensibility coexist with ease. Rooted in a vintage-modern aesthetic, the space pairs time-honored design cues with contemporary materials and detailing, creating a kitchen that feels both familiar and fresh.
Anchoring the design are Arabescato Corchia porcelain countertops and backsplash. With their classic marble-inspired veining and soft luminosity, they reference traditional European stone while delivering the durability and performance required for everyday living. It is a distinctly modern choice that honors the look of marble while embracing a surface engineered for real life.
That balance continues throughout the space. Earthy green custom cabinetry introduces warmth and depth, while sleek black hardware and plumbing fixtures provide crisp contrast, pulling the palette into the present. The cabinetry’s traditional tone is offset by clean lines and thoughtful proportions, allowing the kitchen to feel collected rather than nostalgic.
Lighting plays a quiet but essential role in bridging eras. Art deco inspired fixtures nod to heritage design, while their streamlined forms and finishes keep the overall look modern. The result is layered and intentional, never themed and always considered.
A brass range hood becomes a sculptural focal point, adding a sense of craftsmanship and patina, while glass-front cabinets lighten the space and offer moments of display. Even the hidden pantry, cleverly concealed behind a slatted wood wall, reinforces the studio’s belief that function should enhance, not interrupt, the visual story.
Every element in the Peach Terrace kitchen was selected with purpose. Together, the materials tell a cohesive story that blends vintage charm with modern clarity, transforming inspiration into a kitchen that feels timeless, functional, and deeply personal.
