With over four decades of design experience, Dorene Gomez, founder of Dorene Gomez Interiors, has built her reputation on one guiding principle: every space deserves a distinct, tailored solution.  Known for creating interiors that feel enduring and deeply personal, Dorene brings a designer’s eye and a listener’s ear to every project.

Rather than confining her work to a specific look or label, Dorene embraces a thoughtful, client-driven approach that allows her to design with both purpose and personality.

“I never design from a signature style,” she shares. “We approach each project with fresh eyes. My goal is always to listen, interpret, and create something that resonates with the people who live there — beautifully and functionally.”

The result? A portfolio as diverse as it is personal, where each space tells a story and her evolving design sensibility quietly shines through.

A Timeless Take on Spa-Inspired Luxury

For a recent bathroom renovation, the clients envisioned a luxurious, spa-like retreat; a private sanctuary inspired by their favorite high-end hotel experience. DGI brought that vision to life with a modern, monochromatic palette infused with transitional elements, rich textures, and subtle drama.

The design process began with one key question: Why now? The clients were ready to turn their everyday routine into a ritual of relaxation and escape. DGI responded with a concept that combined clean lines, high-performance materials, and attention to tactile experience.

“The goal was a sense of calm, something polished, peaceful, and deeply custom,” Dorene explains. “We wanted every detail to feel like an invitation to unwind.”

From the oversized niche to the heated floors, each element was carefully considered for its performance and sensory impact. And as always, the materials played a starring role.

Material Moments: A Closer Look

Shower Floor & Curb
Glazzio Riverbed Collection in Fall

This recycled glass mosaic evokes the organic feel of a riverbed, providing a natural softness underfoot and blurring the line between indoor luxury and outdoor serenity. Its matte finish mimics marble while the underfloor heating enhances comfort, especially beneath the rainfall showerhead.

Shower Walls, Bench & Niche
Level White Sienna polished porcelain slabs

Installed in a bookmatched layout for a dramatic feature wall effect, these polished White Sienna slabs span the shower walls, cantilevered bench, and oversized niche. Selected for their sustainability, durability, stain resistance, and timeless beauty, the porcelain features swirls of pristine white, charcoal, and taupe—delivering a dramatic focal point with minimal maintenance.

Vanity Backsplash
Akdo Allure Collection in Radiance - Calacatta Marble P & Blue Lagos H Limestone Mosaic

A subtle nod to haute couture, this intricate mosaic features polished Calacatta marble and honed Blue Lagos limestone, adding a touch of sparkle while blending seamlessly with the porcelain slabs. Inspired by the fine jewelry houses of Paris, the tiny geometric forms bring subtle glamour to the space.

Reintroduced at the vanities for design cohesion, these porcelain slabs were strategically cut to highlight the lighter areas of the pattern. Mitered edges keep the look crisp and tailored.
