Designer Spotlight: Amity Designs

Rustic Charm, Elevated: A Vineyard Estate Reimagined

Her recent Cedar Mountain project is a perfect reflection of that philosophy. In collaboration with Pellegrini Construction, Karim transformed the residence into a welcoming, multi-generational hub that reflects the spirit of its vineyard estate setting. From the flooring underfoot to the natural stone countertops, every detail creates a stunning space for gathering, celebrating, and truly living.

When it comes to creating interiors that feel personal, purposeful, and deeply connected to place, Amity Karim of Amity Designs brings a rare balance of beauty and functionality. Guided by her belief that “design is a collaboration between people, place, and purpose,” Karim’s work is marked by a warm, timeless sensibility where every finish is chosen with intention. With a passion for the sophisticated, the delightfully unexpected, and the art of making the old new again, she creates spaces that enrich her clients’ lives while honoring the character of each home.

The Perfect Finishes: Casual Elegance with Character

At the core of the design was a desire to preserve the home’s rustic soul while layering in fresh materials that balanced elegance with everyday durability. The vision began with a slab of leathered Taj Mahal quartzite, whose creamy undertones and subtle veining echo the sunlit warmth of the surrounding vineyard. Its leathered finish introduced a tactile richness and organic depth, setting the tone for a kitchen that feels both grounded in place and elevated in spirit.

To complement the statement of the quartzite, the backsplash was chosen to be soft yet soulful. A classic 3" x 6" ceramic subway tile in a matte finish brought a sense of quiet texture and understated color, adding warmth and balance without pulling focus. The effect is timeless, a subtle backdrop that allows the natural stone to shine while reinforcing the kitchen’s vineyard-inspired elegance.

The flooring, chosen for its performance on a high-traffic first floor, quickly became a design highlight. All Natural Stone’s in-stock Evostone collection in the color Dune, a soft taupe porcelain with the look of honed marble, was installed throughout the main level. Its subtle tonal variation and matte finish create a natural, seamless flow from room to room, while remaining resilient for everyday life. In the foyer, floor tile was transformed at ANS’s manufacturing center into a custom herringbone installation, adding a tailored touch that elevated the entry and showcased the material’s versatility.

Karim reflects on the collaboration, saying,

“What I love most about working with ANS is the convenience of having so many curated materials in one place. It streamlines the selection process for our clients and allows them to see and touch everything side by side. The team is incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient—always ready to support our design vision.”

“My favorite part of this project was watching the house transform into something truly special for our clients and their family,” she continues. Designed to welcome family and friends for generations, the home feels casual, refined, and joyfully livable. Every finish was thoughtfully chosen to create a timeless environment where beauty and daily life coexist seamlessly, capturing the effortless warmth and sophistication that define Amity Designs.
