A Serene Sanctuary Elevated by Bold Stonework

With a signature style she calls “elevated casual,” Natalia Avalos of Natalia Avalos Interiors has built a reputation for creating spaces that are at once sophisticated and effortlessly livable. Her designs strike a delicate balance between timeless architecture and modern comfort, where every detail feels purposeful. Guided by a love of texture and a refined neutral palette, she layers materials and finishes to craft interiors that feel fresh, elegant, and deeply personal.

 
 
 
 

“I aim to create spaces that are not only high-end and functional but also warm and inviting. Each project reflects a balance of sophistication and purpose,” Natalia shares. Her expertise in space planning, cabinetry, and furniture design ensures that her projects are as practical as they are beautiful, tailored precisely to the rhythm of her clients’ lives.

That philosophy shines in a recent Oakland remodel, where Natalia partnered with Dustin Reed Construction to reimagine a primary bathroom into a serene retreat. With sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay as the home's backdrop, the goal was to design a space that complemented the natural surroundings while delivering a sense of quiet luxury indoors.

At the heart of the design is a showstopping focal point: an integrated double sink carved from leathered Black Storm granite, sourced from All Natural Stone. Its seamless form and dramatic veining set the tone for the room. “The integrated double sink made from the same stone is my favorite feature,” she says.

To temper the drama of the stone, Natalia layered in satin bronze Watermark fixtures, creamy travertine-look porcelain tile on the floors, and a light concrete-look tile on the walls. Matte finishes and custom Rift White Oak cabinetry infuse the room with warmth and organic texture. The combination achieves what has become her signature: a clean yet richly layered aesthetic that feels sophisticated, functional, and quietly indulgent.

“ANS has an incredible stone and tile selection. It is a true one-stop shop. Their knowledgeable team is always helpful and willing to offer guidance on design choices,” Natalia adds.

The bathroom reveals its thoughtful details at every turn: a freestanding tub framed by a tiled arched niche with softly lit shelving, a skylight that floods the space with natural light, and a built-in makeup vanity designed with everyday convenience in mind. Dual integrated sinks with wall-mounted faucets streamline the look, while black-framed mirrors and graze lighting provide the finishing touches. The result is a sanctuary that feels restful yet refined, balancing elegance with everyday ease.
