Calm, Modern Living in the Los Gatos Townhome

“I strive to create spaces that feel as good as they look—quiet, refined, and thoughtfully designed,” shares Adam Mayer, Principal of Adam Mayer Architect. Based in Silicon Valley, Adam specializes in residential projects that balance functionality, well-being, and enduring beauty. Over the years, he has cultivated a design philosophy that prioritizes clarity, calm, and purpose, translating each client’s vision into spaces that are simultaneously modern, luxurious, and deeply human.

Adam Mayer is a licensed architect with a focus on residential design that balances beauty, well-being, and craftsmanship. After gaining experience at Handel Architects and William McDonough + Partners, Adam launched his own practice in 2022 to offer clients a highly personalized architectural experience. His portfolio spans single-family homes, multifamily housing, and amenity-rich developments, all shaped by a commitment to timeless design, sustainability, and human-centered spaces.

Adam also serves on the Los Gatos Planning Commission and was recognized as “Best Residential Architect” by the Los Gatan Newspaper in 2024. A Bay Area native, he holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Southern California and is NCARB certified, allowing him to work across state lines.

His recent Los Gatos townhome remodel exemplifies his approach. Designed for a busy CG artist, the home merges creative functionality with a serene retreat from a fast-paced lifestyle. “The goal was to create a home that supports work, fosters relaxation, and provides a sense of cohesion throughout,” Adam explains. Wide-plank oak floors, an open layout, and a soft neutral palette anchor the project, allowing the architectural and material details to shine.

Kitchen

The kitchen became the heart of the home, anchored by Calacatta Gold porcelain slabs for the countertops and full-height backsplash. The waterfall-edge island serves as both a visual centerpiece and a functional workspace, perfect for entertaining or daily living. Contrasting cabinetry provides depth, while the seamless porcelain surface offers the durability needed for a busy household.

Powder Room

Near the entrance, the powder room introduces a subtle graphic element with the Soulbay Collection’s Form finish porcelain panels for the backsplash. A floating, backlit mirror and polished nickel Waterworks wall-mounted faucet elevate the small space with understated elegance, creating a dramatic first impression without overwhelming the home’s calm aesthetic.

Guest Bathroom

Durable yet stylish finishes define the guest bathroom. Porcelain slabs in Concrete Taupe complement the crisp, classic shower tile from Akdo’s Origin Collection, creating a modern, understated look that harmonizes with the home’s overall aesthetic.

Primary Bathroom

The primary bathroom was designed as a spa-like retreat. A custom double vanity features a Fluted Bianco Dolomiti backsplash, while the double steam shower is clad in glossy beige tiles from All Natural Stone’s Look Collection, complete with integrated seating and dual rainheads. The result is a suite that exudes serenity and luxury, providing a moment of calm in an otherwise fast-paced life.

Adam emphasizes that the project’s success lies in the careful integration of finishes across the home. “By visiting All Natural Stone’s showroom with the client, we were able to explore materials firsthand, selecting finishes that create variety while maintaining a cohesive design language,” he says.

Working with All Natural Stone has been integral to Adam’s design process. The wide range of high-quality options, combined with the team’s deep product knowledge, allows him to bring fresh, elevated elements to every project while ensuring timelines and specifications are met with confidence.
